Product Sense Pushup 2: Three Ways Into a Market

Jira entered an existing market and a red ocean, but eventually became the industry standard for that market. There were already competitors that tracked bugs, but Jira made a better product targeted at whole software teams.

Linear entered a resegmented market and a red ocean. They had a similar concept, but made their software super lean and simple and targeted teams that wanted a less bloated software and cared about speed.

Productboard entered a new market and a blue ocean. They created a product focused on the things that usually happen on docs/spreadsheets/notes, the stuff that happens before the product is being developed. There was no other options for this problem and they created the market, and bet that teams could use a singular software instead of current bespoke solutions.
