Product Sense Pushup 4: Three Value Propositions

Granola advertises itself as “The AI notepad for back-to-back meetings. Notes, actions and memory” and its competitive advantage is that it doesn’t require a meeting bot, and just uses the computer’s audio instead (Otter also does this but Granola heavily advertises this feature). They generally advertise himself for the “doers”, probably so they don’t zero in on any one market. Otter advertises themselves as “a meeting assistant that records audio, writes notes, automatically captures slides, and generates summaries.” and specifically highlights “Sales; Education; Media; Recruiting Agent; SDR Agent” as possible places where a user might use Otter. Otter’s competitive advantage is that it does heavy analysis of the meeting notes to analyze action items, etc and lets the PM be decently passive. Fireflies advertises itself as “Transcribe, summarize, search, and analyze all your team conversations.” and its selling point is essentially how strong and through it fits with other AI apps (though all three do that to some degree). Granola sits closer to the top of the pyramid and focuses on reduced anxiety (the lack of noticeable bot) and focuses a lot on an easy, minimal note taking platform that doesn’t get in the way. Otter sits closer to the middle and focuses on ease of team, like analyzing action items. And Fireflies sits closer to the bottom and focuses on integration with other AI tools. Personally, for the life I have now, Granola makes the most sense. I’m not usually working with a huge team or have super long meetings with lots of action items, so Granola’s ease of notetaking would be the best for me.
