Granola’s main value proposition is being a discreet notetaker which assists a user before and after meetings without the use of a meeting bot. Its homepage advertises the product as “The AI notepad for back-to-back meetings” which targets professionals who are frequently in meetings but want to be focused on the conversation. In relation to the Elements of Value pyramid, Granola connects to the functional values of reducing effort and saving time. It also connects to emotional values like design and aesthetics, with their branding being intentionally centered around paper and scribbles.
Otter positions itself as a more comprehensive meeting assistant which can turn conversations into clear action items. Beyond transcription, it emphasizes pre-meeting preparation, live coaching, and automated follow ups. This appeals to professionals and teams looking to improve productivity and create actionable items across various workflows. In comparison to Granola, it seems more suited for automating meeting flows. Its primary elements of value are function–organization, informing, and saving time.
Finally, Fireflies focuses more on the meeting summaries and analysis of transcribed meetings. Its homepage emphasizes transcription accuracy, searchable conversations, and integrations with existing tools. Compared to Granola’s individual-focused experience, Fireflies targets teams seeking to analyze meetings and automate workflows. Its value proposition centers on integrating, connecting, and simplifies.
I would choose Granola as I appreciate its emphasis on making the meeting experience feel more natural. With Otter and Fireflies, the user has to add a meeting bot to the video call, which can be overwhelming if there are lots of meeting bots. Additionally, I think the user experience and design of the platform is appealing to me. Regarding my own value prop, this comparison shows the importance of communicating not only what a product does, but also how it can do so in a well-designed way.
