I think the question of whether or not to deploy a Gen AI Salesbot is a valid one especially now when it’s so common it might start being a design standard. However, I think if it is not done correctly it can be really problematic and ineffective.
Pros of a Gen AI Salesbot
Rolling it out soon could bring real benefits if done correctly. A salesbot can help qualify leads faster, respond to customers at any time of day, and take pressure off the sales team. It will free up time for sales representatives and also lead to less stress and more productive use of human capital. Also, because of how the world is moving, it is important for companies to stay updated on AI and how to integrate it.
Cons of a Gen AI Salesbot
At the same time, moving too fast can backfire on the company’s success. GenAI tools can hallucinate, cause legal issues, use the wrong tone, or give a customer experience to customers that doesn’t reflect the true values of the company and its representatives. Also, giving it the best and unbiased data is really important because it may start making incorrect assumptions. Also, sales representatives that you already have may feel threatened of getting fired and so you should take time to console them and reassure them as well.
Solution
For this reason, I would propose doing a pilot program before actually launching because it would allow the company and their sales reps time to see what it actually is like before adapting it.
