I think that this design process complements a lot of the design processes I learned about in the past. This design process is very heavily focused on impact and the user and much of the need finding process that I’ve learned about in the past has been similar.
The main way that this design process differs from previous design processes that I’ve learned about is that it puts the emphasis on team meetings and conversations to drive forward project alignment. In the past, the design processes that I’ve learned about have been centered around things like PRDs and slide decks and pitch documents and how to create these documents well. It seemed like all that was needed for success was a really good PRD and if that was mastered, then everything else would fall into place: everyone would have a single source of truth to reference for the product. This design process made it really clear that without actual conversations and interactive team meetings, it is very likely that no one is on the same page but they all think that they are.
