The telephone game examples with the botched birthday cakes was funny and reminded me of other stories I’ve seen online where communication mishaps produced amusing but unsuccessful results. I’m sure you’ve seen the comic about this swing:

The design process described was interesting and differed from ones I’ve used before in the way it emphasized communication and storytelling. As a PM intern at Microsoft this past summer, I experienced firsthand the issues that come with relying on documents, especially PRDs, without effective communication. Even though it wasn’t actually like a telephone game since the people reading my document could understand every word and not misread them, there was a gap between what I intended to communicate and what I actually communicated. I like the idea of emphasizing storytelling in documents that are not traditionally emphasized for storytelling, like the vacation photo analogy described.
