The AppNexus pitch deck does a great job establishing the problem through the founders’ firsthand experiences. Slide 5 show how they encountered real challenges while scaling Right Media, including unpredictable traffic, international expansion, and infrastructure integration. I particularly liked how Slide 6 directly connects these problems to proposed solutions back to back, make the logic flow really smooth. This makes the pitch convincing because the problems are grounded in concrete experiences rather than abstract claims.
However, I think the deck is weaker when it comes to validating the broader market. While it lists potential customers across industries and shows the audience an ambitious growth plan, it doesn’t explicitly quantify the market size or demonstrate how many companies would actually pay for the solution. Hence a deeper analysis of the actual market size would improve credibility.
As an investor, I would ask: How many customers have validated these problems? How much are they willing to pay? Why would they choose AppNexus over competitors like Amazon EC2? I would also want to understand the unit economics to see if their proposed goals are actually achievable.
For our Sanity Check pitch, I want to borrow AppNexus’s approach of translating broad problems into specific, relatable scenarios and connecting them directly to potential solutions. We can use concrete examples and recurring patterns from our six interviews to establish credibility.
