Week 4 PSP: Three Value Propositions

Granola: Granola’s goal is to help those who have back to back meetings with little time to take notes during or after. People using granola will be able to refer back to meeting notes/transcripts generated and ask it’s chat about specific things that arose in the meeting. One of the main differences between Granola and the other tools is that it uses a person’s own computer audio so it does not need to invite a bot to the meeting. This allows for people to be able to use the tool without having other participants aware of the tool taking notes.

Otter: Otter specifically focuses on using meeting context to create a knowledge base and power other workflows. While transcribing and summarizing meeting notes are one of their capabilities, it’s more focused on the part of what you will be doing with these meeting context. Unlike the other tools, for Otter, you do not need to be joining meetings. It connects to your calendar and is able to record and transcribe meetings even if the person doesn’t attend them themselves. With Otter, however, it joins in as a bot, so other attendees have to accept that otter is there.

Fireflies: Fireflies largest differentiator is the amount of languages it supports. It is pretty similar to Otter as the notetaker joins in as a bot to meetings and can automatically share meeting notes with all those present in a meeting. It also stores meeting notes in its own cloud.

I would say that all 3 of these tools fall under the functional category of the elements of value pyramid. If I were to pick one I would pick Granola as it is the tool I currently use and value it being able to function from my own computer’s audio without a meeting bot.
