Week 4 PSP: Three Value Propositions

While Granola, Otter, and Fireflies roughly do the same job, they frame their value differently.

Granola positions itself as an “AI-powered notepad for meetings” that works with you rather than replacing you. You still take notes on what matters, and Granola will use the transcript to clean up and expand your notes. This is a compelling promise for knowledge workers and product teams who want to stay engaged without giving up control over what gets captured or missing out on fine details. To map this to the Elements of Value pyramid, I think the elements sold here are saves time, simplifies, quality, and reduces anxiety.

Otter goes beyond transcription and offers pre-call briefs, live coaching, summaries, searchable knowledge, and automated follow-ups. Its audience is broader than Granola, and can interest any sales, recruiting, education, media, and general teams. Its core elements sold are saves time, organizes, integrates, and reduces effort, with the promise that meetings automatically become action.

Fireflies emphasizes automation and workflow at the team level. This assistant helps with capturing conversations, extracting action items, searching past meetings, and pushing information into tools like CRMs and project management systems. Its strongest Elements of Value are integrates, organizes, saves time, and reduces effort.

I would buy Granola. I think the other two seem more powerful in pure automation, but Granola’s value proposition feels more differentiated. It would help me focus better and allow me to be more engaged during meetings instead of just producing a transcript or other materials and removing the need to think on my own.
