Week 4 PSP: Three Value Propositions

Although Granola, Otter, and Fireflies all offer AI-powered meeting notes, they approach the same problem differently and emphasize different values.

Granola presents itself as an AI notepad for people with back-to-back meetings. Its biggest selling point is that it works without adding a bot to the meeting, allowing users to focus on the conversation while maintaining some control over their notes. It seems to target individuals and busy professionals who want something simple and less intrusive. Its main Elements of Value are saves time, reduces effort, simplifies, and reduces anxiety.

Otter focuses more on capturing and organizing conversations through live transcription, summaries, and action items. It appeals to professionals and teams who want a reliable record of their meetings and a way to revisit information afterward. Its value comes from informs, organizes, saves time, and connects.

Fireflies takes a more team-oriented approach, emphasizing the ability to search, analyze, and share conversations across an organization. Its integrations and automation features make it particularly attractive to businesses managing large numbers of meetings. It emphasizes integrates, organizes, reduces effort, and saves time.

Personally, I would choose Granola. While Fireflies and Otter offer more features for teams, I prefer Granola’s simpler approach and the fact that it doesn’t require a bot to join meetings. I also think there’s something valuable about a product that doesn’t try to do everything.

What I learned from this comparison is that having more features doesn’t necessarily create a stronger value proposition. The important thing is understanding who you’re building for and communicating why your product is the best choice for them.
