Granola’s home page describes it as “The AI notepad for back-to-back meetings.” This targets employees with packed schedules who don’t have time to synthesize information between meetings. Granola claims to beat the alternatives by helping the user focus on staying present in the meeting while Granola handles the notes. On the Elements of Value pyramid, it has functional value because it saves time and reduces effort, and also emotional value because it reduces anxiety about a busy schedule and information overload.
Otter describes its promise as “Meeting AI that turns talk into action.” It targets employees in sales with its SDR agent and broader enterprise company professionals. Otter beats the alternatives by providing searchable transcripts, live coaching, and automated follow-ups. It sells functional elements including “organizes,” “saves time,” and “simplifies” as well as the emotional element “reduce anxiety” by holding the user accountable to responsibilities discussed in the meeting.
The home page of Fireflies states that it is “The #1 AI Assistant For Your Meetings” and describes its ability to “Transcribe, summarize, search, and analyze all your team conversations.” It targets teams and organizations that need to share information across tools because the homepage emphasizes integrations and enterprise security. Fireflies beats the alternatives because it connects meeting insights to existing workflows. Its functional elements include “integrates,” “connects,” “organizes,” “reduces effort,” and “reduce risk” (the last one because of security features).
I would buy Granola because it fits my needs the best as a college student. I wouldn’t need the differentiating features of Otter and Fireflies, like live coaching and integrations. I want to focus on engaging with people during meetings and then having my notes refined and synthesized using the transcript post-meeting. This shows that my own value prop focuses on simplicity and ease of use.
