Week 4 PSP: Three Value Propositions

Granola, Otter and Fireflies all record a meeting and hand you notes. The three products are trying to accomplish the same task, so the interesting part is their design for homepage and the slightly-distinguished features.

Granola

Granola is “the AI notepad for back-to-back meetings,” with “Without a meeting bot” doing the real work. The buyer is one busy person, and the social proof is founders and VCs. In my opinion, how it stands out is that your notes are private, and you jot while the AI fills in.

Elements: saves time, reduces effort, quality, reduces anxiety.

Otter

Otter promises “meeting AI that turns talk into action”. This includes pre-call briefs, live coaching, and CRM sync. The product itself speaks to sales, SDR, and recruiting teams. Its advantage is the number, “4+ hours saved per week.”

Elements: saves time, integrates, informs, organizes.

Fireflies

Fireflies is “the #1 AI assistant for your meetings,” for “all your team conversations.” It wins on breadth (100+ languages, 200+ AI skills, 1M+ companies) and on compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA). The real buyer/customer is the CIO.

Elements: variety, integrates, informs, reduces risk.

Which I’d buy

I would buy Granola. Otter and Fireflies stack more functional elements, but every notetaker already saves time. Granola is the only one that climbs to the emotional tier, which it lets me stay present without relying too much on the bot.

That’s the lesson for my own value prop. When everyone does the same job, emotional values really stand out since users will feel more connected. Instead, I should pitch that “I build for the person in the room”.
