TDLR – yes, why not? I don’t think Facebook, now called Meta, is an outrageously unethical company. The company doesn’t intentionally exploit its workers, nor does it dump toxic waste into the environment. Sure, the argument that the social media designs the curation of content to be addictive can be made, but can you really blame them? Attention is the lifeline of social media. Just like a shopping mall will try to get shoppers to linger by perfecting the shopping experience, Facebook will naturally grip its users’ attention. Facebook’s mission, “Giving people the power to build community and bring the world closer together,” is also hard to be called unethical. I wouldn’t find it difficult to accept an offer from an not unethical company like Facebook.
