
What it was like measuring:
Using a 30 minute interval this time worked a lot better for me. I think once I was targeting a certain behavior I was almost hyper aware of doing it throughout the day. Therefore, I would record once I had the strong urge to shop and pulled out my device to do so. I really enjoyed this activity as I had a better sense of understanding the common motives behind my behavior of online shopping and what other factors trigger it.
Next time, I would make sure to keep the 30 minute intervals and to record my behaviors in-between the fast parts of my day. In addition, I would record if I actually completed the action rather than the intent. Instead, of stopping myself from shopping, I’ll just go through with the activity since it might snowball more behaviors.
