The behavior that I measured was the number of times I open my social media Apps (Instagram, WeChat, etc). I measured it on Sunday and Monday and I opened them 20 and 25 times respectively. The model I used to represent the habit ecosystem is the connection circle and the fishbone model. One surprising discovery is that when I muted my notifications, I actually ended up opening the app more frequently to check for new messages. Next time I’m hoping to reduce social media app usage by putting my phone away from myself or turning off my phone when I’m working.
