Finding Our Sound – SOUNDSPOT!!!

When we first began working on the SoundSpot pitch, it was a bit bleak with how much money we were spending and not making. Our challenge was clear: how do we make music feel human again? The streaming landscape is dominated by giants like Spotify and Apple, so instead of competing on catalog size, our team focused on what those platforms can’t replicate, connection.

As a group, we quickly aligned around the idea of transforming SoundSpot into a platform that deepens relationships between artists and their superfans.

The most rewarding part of the process was seeing our initial problem statement evolve through research and debate. What started as “a social music app” became a much clearer, focused vision: interactive live concerts and fan communities that balance scalability with intimacy. This clarity came only after several iterations, tough feedback sessions, and moments of re-centering on user needs.

I liked that our team had so many ideas and energy to put into the project and every step of the way. Our mentors also pushed us to improve our pitch and really gave great feedback that informed the way we presented ourselves day of.

Main lesson learned is that less is more. We focused on what we wanted to convey and walked backwards from there. Anything minimal or unimportant was set to the side
