Target Behaviour: Smoking weed
Throughout the 3 day weekend, I assessed the factors that induce me to smoke weed. I primarily focused on my environmental factors and my mental state at the time of actively deciding to smoke. After drawing a connection circle model to identify key factors tied to my behaviour, I found that the key initiator was bad time management. Poor time management led to a false perception of the amount of free time I have. The false perception of free time meant I had spent more time spent in social settings where there was heavy weed consumption. The most important factor that had the potential to amplify the behaviour was “consecutive days of smoking” because many behaviour-enforcing factors had a positive feedback look relationship. From this exercise, I extracted a positive feedback look capturing “Bad time management” and “Smoking consecutive days”.
Measuring Me 2 assignment provided an opportunity to be conscious of my actions and focus on shaping the environment around me to mitigate the possibility of falling into the feedback loop.
Two models representing the habit ecosystem are added as attachments.
