Andrea’s Individual Reflection

This project has been a challenging yet rewarding journey for our team. We’ve identified a problem that plagues designers of all levels, from novices to seasoned professionals, and proposed an innovative solution that can potentially revolutionize the creative process.

Our team, consisting of individuals with diverse backgrounds in design, computer science, and business, brought a unique set of skills to the project. This diversity enriched our discussions and decision-making processes, helping us develop a comprehensive solution.

The problem we aimed to solve was clear, designer’s block. We recognized that existing tools offered little to no assistance in starting a design project, and they often lacked AI-powered features that could streamline the creation process. Our solution, the GSPhotoCo Visual Studio, bridges this gap by offering a generative AI-powered UX flow that guides designers through the creation process. It not only saves time but also enhances the quality of the final product.

Our market analysis revealed a significant opportunity in the freelance graphic design market, with a substantial TAM/SAM/SOM. We believe our solution has the potential to capture a significant portion of this market, given its unique features and affordability.

The business model, with its two revenue streams, offers flexibility to users, whether they prefer a one-time fee or a monthly subscription. This approach aligns with the pay-as-you-need trend and allows us to project strong sales early on.

Our go-to-market strategy, milestones, and timeline are well thought out, ensuring a gradual but impactful introduction of the Visual Studio to our users. We are committed to continuous improvement based on user feedback and market demands.

However, it’s important to mention the pivot we made during the project, which required us to recalculate market figures and redefine our approach. Our interaction with Jen, a Google Product Manager, was a pivotal moment in our project’s evolution. Her insights and guidance provided us with valuable direction, and her advice helped us refine our approach.

First and foremost, Jen emphasized the importance of validating our market assumptions. This resonated with us, as it’s crucial to ensure that we’re building a solution that truly addresses a pressing need in the market. To achieve this, we’re now focused on a multi-pronged approach. We’re actively surveying our target audience through methods like Google Ads and Survey Monkey to gather data and feedback that will help us fine-tune our solution.

Furthermore, Jen’s suggestion to track who’s been receiving funding in the market and to study their marketing strategies and problem statements has opened new avenues for our research. We’re diligently following industry players, both the emerging startups and the established giants like Adobe, to understand the trends and developments in the AI and design space.

Jen’s advice on user interviews and surveys has had a direct impact on our approach to refining our solution. We’ve realized that these methods are not just about collecting data but also about generating new ideas and validating our assumptions with a statistically significant number of data points.

One of the most significant takeaways from our interaction with Jen was the reevaluation of our problem statement. We now understand the importance of a clear and compelling problem statement that resonates deeply with our target audience. Overcoming designer’s block has emerged as a more compelling problem statement that can drive the adoption of our solution.

Our meeting with Jen was a turning point in our project. It has reshaped our research and development strategy, refocused our problem statement, and inspired us to seek a deeper understanding of the market. We are excited to continue applying these insights to our project and make it resonate with a stronger and more relevant problem statement as we move forward. Furthermore, our flexibility is a testament to our adaptability and dedication to finding the best possible solution.

In conclusion, our project reflects a commitment to innovation, a deep understanding of the design industry, and a well-structured plan to introduce the GSPhotoCo Visual Studio to the market. We are excited about the potential of our solution and are seeking support to validate the market and achieve product-market fit. We look forward to taking the next steps in this exciting journey.
