Ethical Jobs 9/29

I think the answer to this question is multifaceted, as the article mentioned. Of course, I don’t think Facebook was formed with the intent of exploiting user data and transforming digital communication through ownership of distribution and curation, but as the company has grown, it has developed into that. I would say that yes, I would take the job, but keep in mind the social faults of the company and try my best to avoid furthering those initiatives while on the job. The contradictions that the article includes — such as a pacifist working at Boeing — show how it is impossible to separate impact from livelihood. In the least, one could support their responsibility to provide for family while also staying socially conscious in the role.
