PROJECT: Measuring Me Take 2

For this project, I decided to monitor my sleeping patterns, and how that affects the time in which I wake up. For me, I have made it my goal to wake up early in the morning because it allows me to get a head start in the day, which includes exercising, planning out my day, and getting any work done that I have not completed from the previous day. Over the course of two days, I monitored my daily habits and made observations on how that affected my ability to go to sleep in an orderly time fashion, which in turn enabled me to wake up early the next day. I generally summed up my experience using the following circle model:

Some things I noticed is that on days that had a lack of structure, it was easier for me to go to bed at a later time. And on days where I went to bed late, I tend to not wake up early, which, in some cases, can cause feelings of tiredness. This created a cyclical pattern where I would nap to compensate for my tiredness, which would lead to less productivity, and eventually me repeating the pattern of sleeping late. The following phenomenon can be demonstrated through the following causal model:

One thing that I think would be beneficial, moving forward would be to structure my days, even when my schedule is not as busy in order to create a routine. In this manner, following the routine gives me a higher sense of time, which in turn enables me to finish tasks in an orderly fashion and go to bed early, enabling me to wake up early in the morning the next day.
